Napoleon had chased Tsar Alexander's armies across the Russian countryside, trying to force a decisive battle
in hopes of destroying them and forcing the Tsar to settle on terms of Napoleon's dictate.
Time and again they looked like they would fight, but always they continued to retreat toward Moscow.
Now, with the Tsar's armies only miles from Moscow and under the new leadership
of Prince Kutuzov, it looks like Napoleon will get his wish.
