The village of Borodino has been captured, its bridge spanning the Kolocha burned by the departing Russians.
Most of Prince Eugene's IV Corps has meanwhile been shifted to the south bank of the river,
inpreparation to assault the "Great Redoubt". Shortly before 10am Broussier's division begins
the action with a "reconnaissance in force". Morand's 1st Division
and Grouchy's III Reserve Cavalry Corps await their turn to advance.
On the other side of the Semenovski Stream, Raevskii's VII Corps, severely depleted
after sending several units to other threatened sectors, cooly awaits the attackers.
